Our Story

Sometimes in life you are lucky enough to meet people with whom you not only ‘click’ with but find you have a knack of stimulating one another’s imagination and creativity in a way that is quite simply joyous!

Jo and Gill met 10 or 15 years ago whilst working at a large, active church in Wolverhampton, Gill was working as an administrator and Jo was the Children’s Pastor. Despite the age difference, they found they had much in common, in particular a love for children and a deep desire that they should know Jesus and know how much He loves them. They also discovered that they both wanted that journey of discovery to be fun!  The bible tells us ‘that the Joy of the Lord is our strength’, Jesus came ‘that we might have life’ – abundantly!  Sunday School, holiday clubs, projects in the park and Christmas, all would find them laughing over cups of coffee as they invented fun ways to show children God is real!

When Jo's son started primary school, she began to realise that the words, thoughts and opinions of other children and adults were having a strong influence on how her son felt about himself. Jo knew she needed her son to understand who he was in Jesus, so that when the challenges of life came, he would know the truth of who God had created him to be. The idea of Growbags was born; a bag full of 'seeds of truth' that would grow in his young heart.

Growbags, beautifully illustrated by Isobel Bushell of Aardvark Illustration and Design, is Know and Grow’s first resource but Jo and Gill (and their friends) are bursting with other ideas that they can’t wait to share with you - if you have any ideas of resources that would be helpful to you and your family do get in touch.
